The “Agriturismo Il Barbarossa” is situated in an ancient medieval village, a hamlet of Lama San Giustino, called “Federicco”. This name is often associated with a large number of fascinating legends. The story tells that the name “Federicco”

derives from the well known emperor Federico Barbarossa, who, during his stay in Italy, resided in this house which was, at the time, a fortress. The proof that there is a truth in the legend was accidentaly found during the excavations which were necessary for the construction of the sewer system. Infact the workers came across very robust lime walls that confirmed the existance of the fortress. These walls are part of a solid building that, during the war, was used as a refuge by the inhabitants of Federicco. The fortress has been the Agriturismo’s owners’ house for years. The small hamlet  Federicco is still traditionally tied to a rural life-style. The area is plunged into the beautiful Umbrian-Tuscan Alto Tevere’s hills, along the road which, from Città di Castello (Pg) leads to Sansepolcro (Ar).

The restoration of the entire building has preserved the old disposition of the house, following the rules of the typical Umbrian rural style, characterized by wood and brickwork. The living areas are extremely confortable and every detail has carefully been taken care of. The guests will be able to enjoy the beautiful tavern situated inside the Agriturismo which, being run by an

agrarian company, can offer very fine foods, such as wines and various delicatessen (all home produced). You will have the opportunity to choose among various tourist attractions: to those who are fed up with the city and love relaxing, the Agriturismo offers a swimming pool situated next to a green park, where you will be able to spend the sunny afternoons. Some tennis courts can be found a few meters away. However, to those who would like to discover the natural beauties of the Umbrian hills, we offer various excursion.
We must not forget that the “Alto Tevere” is full of cultural attractions: Città di Castello is only 6 Km away, Perugia is 60 km away.
